Whether you are looking for a way to 'top up' your current income or to run as a stand-alone business, selling ebooks is a great way to make money. There are no start-up costs, margins are very high and you can often focus on your own interests and passions as topics for ebooks.

For your potential customer, an ebook is a very attractive product. They can usually buy the ebook as an instant download so even if they decide they want to read about a subject in the middle of the night there is no need to wait to go to the shops or for delivery. Ebooks are often very 'niche' specific - they go into far greater detail than traditional paper books. For example, let's say you want to learn about how to train a beagle puppy. Your local store will have books on how to train a puppy but chances are you will be able to find an ebook on how to train a beagle puppy specifically.

As a seller, margins and mark ups are very high. Quite simply the only production costs are putting the content together. There are obviously no printing costs as it's not a physical item.  Ebooks sell for anything from a few dollars up to hundreds of dollars and potentially all of this is profit.

So where do you find the content to write an ebook? Let's rewind first. You need to know there are people out there who will buy your ebook first of all. This isn't as hard as you may think and there are easy ways to do this such as looking at Amazon to see what's on the 'best sellers' lists. Look at the non-fiction areas and pay particular attention to 'How to' type books such as my earlier example of 'How to train your puppy.'

You may find that you already know enough about a popular and in demand subject to write an ebook about it yourself. If not, there are thousands of 'Private Label Rights' articles and books you can access. A PLR ebook, as they are often called, is one which you can buy the rights to amend, edit and publish as your own. There are also Private Label Right articles which you could edit together to make your own ebook to sell.

Again, let's look at my 'how to train your puppy' example. You could gather together a bunch of good Private Label Right content, edit it, add an introduction and contents page and very easily create your own ebook to sell.

When you have been through the process once you will soon find hundreds of ideas for new products and will find that making money selling ebooks is a very lucrative and enjoyable venture to operate.
